Let the fun begin!

Eric bongos & class-largeEric Robnett rips out with a crisp bongo solo to inspire his students during the January Motherland Music Youth Class performance. It worked; they were great!
Don't let the faux serious look on Eric's face fool you; he is a real sweetheart.

Eric & student momentEric has a 'moment' with a parent (teasing her with a wry remark) during the January performance. It's all in good fun, folks; parents added their sharp wit, too.

Eric on oghene in classEric plays an oghene groove while the rest of the group sizzles in a samba rhythm. The student in the foreground is locked in rhythm with the others across the room.

Youth class in shadesEveryone in the 11:00 Intermediate/Advanced Youth Class knows they're cool! FYI, all photos on this page can be downloaded (right-click, select Save As...).

Youth class in shades againWisecracking just happens when someone (for these images our beloved store manager Ryoji Inatsugi) shoots photos. It's just part of the fun in our Youth Classes. Maestro Malik appears top right... his cell phone is ringing again?

Eric dark and fadedThis is where your webmaster gets to crack a bit wise... Quoth Eric, "The incense is beginning to take effect. I see space aliens disguised as students in sunglasses!" Somehow the group pulled together, costumes or none, and the recital went well.

These are some of the best photos taken during a special performance given by Eric Robnett's Sunday 11:00 a.m. Youth Class. It was a very special event featuring various styles of drumming and multipercussion. The students were well-rehearsed and certainly up for their tasks, as they flowed smoothly between numbers, changing instruments like young professionals. Thanks to all who made it great!

Two of our esteemed adult djembe/dundun instructors took the opportunity to show up in support. Isn't it safe to presume that they're looking to recruit from this group for the future? We'll just have to see which of Eric's students they recruited, if they did. Eric's students love him dearly, so once students start with masters like we have here, changing teachers rarely occurs.
